Sri Siddhi Buddhi Samedha Sri Karpaga Vinayakar Temple, situated at Second Street, Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai 600028, was established during 1960 under the guidance and suggestions of Kanchi Paramacharya. The temple started in a very small way and over a period of time and with the support of the devotees in and around the locality, it has become very popular and is now one of the land mark of Raja Annamalaipuram.
Raja Annamalaipuram Baktha Jana Sangam, a Registered Trust is managing the Temple with the help of Executive Committee members who are being elected by the members of the Sangam.
Apart from the routine pujas and functions for the presiding Deities, the temple has facilities for conducting small functions like Januvasam, Nitchayathartham, Sashtiapthapoorthi, Sathabhisheham, Irumudi kattu for Lord Ayyappan.
Special musical concerts are also being held during festival seasons like Maha Sivarathiri and Vinayaka Chathurthi, in a grand manner.
History
This temple comparatively has a history of less than 60 years.
It is said that the His Holiness Senior Sankaracharya , while on a paadhayatra in Madras in the year 1957 , stayed in this place and requested his disciples to construct a temple for Vinayagar.
Construction
The temple was constructed by the efforts made by Avibakthammal, wife of Idaiyathimangalam Vaidhyanatha Iyer and Kumbabhishekam was done on 12/6/1960.
After that at least four renovations have been done and extensions were made.
Shrines & Deities
The main deity is Karpaga Vinayagar with his consorts Siddhi and Buddhi.
There are additional shrines for Guruvayoorappan, Durga, Anjaneyar, Subramanyar, Dakshinamoorthy and Sridevi Bhoodevi Sameda Lakshmi Narayanan.
